And here we are together again
Creeping separately into oldness
Manufactured pleasantries
Masking everlasting coldness.
Who you thought you were then
Is not who you became
What you thought you prized then
Looks foolish, false and lame
Nothing is the same.
And here we are together again
Feigning the slightest care
Adolescent shells dissolved
Showing hearts wiser but bare.
Tightest smile and folded arms
You depart to fabricated fame
You hold your torch and I hold mine
Playing true to my one good game.
Everything’s the same.
Satisfied smirks of knowingness
Oh color me so surprised
Rainbows offering joyful release
From a sandbox full of lies.
