Madonna tossed in a tangle of trash
Tilted sideways, about to crash
Dangling the Christ Child near the edge
Losing all reason in her smelly bed.

Exalted Mary faded and cracked
Raindrop tears sliding down her back
Uneven sorrow, half-baked Grace
Bewilderment written on her painted face.

Blessed Virgin, Mother Supreme
Cry for yourself and your maternal dream
Weep for your Son, his arms open wide
Shining God’s light over every side.
